i think in this case, i prefer to believe what nme writes.
but the trouble on stage (poor guitars!) part seems to be true, a friend of mine who was at summersonic reported that as well. apparently, people were not happy at all

Well yes, I don't believe the other link either, it just made me laugh. But I read on another forum someone that was at the gig discussed the on stage stuff...
The highlights of the show include: - some technical difficulties for Nick's set-up that led to an arguement with the technician and his guitar getting unplugged somehow during Bittersweet Symphony. I couldn't see what happened until after the fact. - Richard calling on some heckler in the audience and then smashing his acoustic guitar on the stage - Si threw the broken guitar a meter away from where I was in the crowd. I managed to get a small piece of it. - Sit & Wonder was amazing. I can't wait for the new album. - Life's an Ocean. My favorite song. - At the end Richard walked off, kicking a stool on his way, evidently not impressed with Nick's guitar problems. - Nick said arigato and sayanora a few times, bowed to the audience, and apologised for something or to someone, not sure what he said though. http://www.astorminheaven.com/forum/index.php?topic=157.0 Gotta wonder why there was broken glass in the dressing room too. I just hope that it was just technical stuff and not in-band stuff. |

I found the whole article quite comical, I can't take it too seriously, so I really hope it's all nonsense. As for Richard smashing his guitar after Lucky Man, he's done that before anyway, but not from temper....

THIS IS MUSIC SONNET SPACE AND TIME SIT AND WONDER LIFE'S AN OCEAN THE ROLLING PEOPLE THE DRUGS DON'T WORK LUCKY MAN BITTER SWEET SYMPHONY LOVE IS NOISE The guy that sent it to me said the atmosphere was great and there were "some funny moments with Richard's mistake." I'm hoping to hear back from him with more details about that.... And if anyone has the setlist for the Osaka performance it would be much appreciated. (I've put them up on the site both the same for the time being). |

The thing with The Verve is you get the feeling they still haven't talked about anything since Nick came back in 1997! And really he split the band up twice before, people forget Richard got him back in the band twice. His reaction to a few technical problems is a bit sad. | ||

It must be frustrating to get technical problems, quite sad though to see Nick reacting like that, not very professional.
I hope they get back on track, Richard did say a while ago it was "no Mills and Boon off into the sunet happy ending" ... Lets hope they can keep it together a bit longer. |

It would be good to get a #1 single on Sunday and display all the images of these headlines on a screen as Holy Are You plays.
The come out and he says "This Is F**king Music!" - then they all take a bow together at the end maybe that's hoping for too much...hehe |

Well yeah, I couldn't get why they made a big thing last week about Richard doing another solo stint - it was no secret was it. It's what a lot of fans have been wanting to hear anyway, to have The Verve and Richard solo would be tremendous.
The single can't fail to get to No.1, and if they fuck everything up again straight afterwards it would be insane. LOVE LIVE THE VERVE LONG LIVE RICHARD ASHCROFT SOLO That's what I say!!!

well... anyway, idon't think it makes much sense analyzing a youtube video clip. you never know, what happened before, maybe everybody was pissed off after the long journey to japan, or because the food was s*it or just got up on the wrong side of the bed. bad hair day or whatever, such things happen. |
