It's the best thing I heard this year.
(It beats the hell out of Viva La Vida) |

Is it a good idea bands putting their whole albums on their myspace pages?
I wonder if they know you can download those songs from there?
Seems a strange thing to do.... |

| They probably figure that if anyone really wants to get it for free they can just download it somewhere else. Music today is disposable and unfortunately if you want to keep up with the Joneses you've got to put their product out there for free. Look what BSS did for them. One hit single like that and your album is remembered for ages so I guess they figure that the more ears are on them, the more likely something will catch on. I think dwindling record sales have people trying out new types of marketing and this is one of them. All of this is speculation on my part, but I wouldn't doubt at least part of it being correct. |

Yeah, you're probably right, they're making it really easy for people though to get it for free before it's even released. Would seem more sensible to put up a few songs at a time, rather than the whole lot all at once. Like you say though, there's other forms of marketing these days, but if they want to get it up in the album charts .... |

In UK most of people ,who likes album or Verve will buy album anyway. But I'm not sure about countrys like Estonia ,Russia or former soviet union countries.People don't spend money for music not much, there, but they don't "make" any band big as well.Only UK,old Europe and US can do it and there most of people buying the music what they like. |

Well there is a theory that musicians of the future will give music away and try and "earn their keep" with concerts and "merchandising"... not a prospect I relish, thinking back on some stadium concerts I experienced (not to mention "Rolling Stones" golf socks...) |

| You can't download the songs from myspace, you can just listen to them and put on your page. |

If you have realplayer a "download this clip" pops up whenver you visit a page with either video or audio!!!! It rather shocked me to make it so easy. |

I have the following theories about this:
1. They actually made FORTH because of the music without thinking in the money, like Richard said (yea right)
2. They have made quite some money already with the pre-order thing, they tour and other things
3. They are trying to take the thing radiohead did with 'in rainbows' to the next level. |

Or maybe they just don't realise yet that ppl can actually download the songs with realplayer... |

you mean, like "we can't start the 'box set/ preorderes' download too early, because the album could leak?"
or they just have given in, knowing the album is everywhere anyway.
